A Bouquet of Pencils

Don't you just love New York City in the Fall? It makes me want to send you a bouquet of pencils.

The weather has taken a turn and it's pretty nice. I walked up the stairs from the subway station and could immediately feel the cool wind brush by my face. I started taking the 2-3 train instead of the 4-5 because I just cannot take the 4-5 anymore. It's always packed like sardines and it's soooo...freaking...slow. I was tired of having to bust out my cape (Mighty Mouse) every time I wanted to squeeze through all the giants -oops- I mean, regular sized people, who won't budge for a lil gal like me. And I think we all know that while I may lack in the height department, I pack a mean punch!! (LOL) The 2-3 is such a better commute and I'm thankful I have options.

I got off at the Wall Street stop and saw the scores of news cameras all facing the NYSE. It was somewhat quiet today - I'm assuming from yesterday's financial issues: (the DOW hit an all time low yesterday), Lehman Bros. filed for bankruptcy and the talk of Bank of America buying out Merryll Lynch has got everyone in the financial district in cahoots. Lehman Bros. going down has reminded me of when Enron went under. It is very sad. My prayers go out to those who are affected by these changes.

My Mom and I had such a great weekend! I will post an entry on that once I upload my pics. Of course the only thing missing was my Sissy, but we thought of her and talked about her non-stop. She was definitely with us.

Le Sigh....Hubby and I found ourselves engaged in a heart to heart conversation last night. It was so sweet and has me feeling a bit sappy today. It's one thing to love, but it's another to be in love. I'll keep the latter please. :)

Smorgasbord!

The following is a post which is about so many different things that you could easily say it's a smorgasbord full of stuff!!

After 3 tries...on 3 different days...at 3 different Apple locations...and 3.5 hours of standing in line, Hubby was finally able to get the iPhone 3G. I don't know how it works in other cities, but in the city, this is what it takes to get an iPhone:

1. Stand in line all... night...long to receive a voucher when the store opens at 8am.
2. Voucher = permission to come back and stand in line when they tell you to.
3. Stand in line at a decent time, after work perhaps, and hope that there’s a voucher left for you to come back and...you guessed it...stand in line.
4. Once you get your voucher, you come back at the specified time to stand in line…OUTSIDE.
5. So outside you go...standing and waiting...
6. …And standing and waiting…
7. …And standing and waiting…
8. Then finally!!! you get the okay to go downstairs all to…
9. …stand in line some more!!!!!! ARGH!
10. You stand in line downstairs until one of the lovely Apple people say, "okay you ready to get your iPhone?"

Seems like a lot to go through just for the stinkin’ smart phone! I’m a blackberry lover of course, but it is nice to see Hubby enjoying his new toy - not to mention I inherited his iPod Touch (the one I gave him for his birthday! LOL). :) Here's a few pics of Hubby standing in line downstairs waiting his turn...and patiently might I add.

Pizza + Macaroni & Cheese - Pinch & S'Mac!

There is the BEST restaurant in the upper west side that we discovered – (after taking Sasha to Central Park of course). It’s a restaurant devoted solely to Pizza and Macaroni & Cheese...all in the same place! The pizza is by the inch (hence the name Pinch!) and let me just say - it's extremely yummy!! We’ve been to S’Mac before (in the Lower East Side), so we knew it would be delish!

People often ask me how I like working in the Financial District. My answer? I LOVE it!! Walking down Wall Street during lunchtime is awesome! There's so much hustle and bustle - it's like everyone is wearing a suit that says Time is Money - Move Outta My Way! I always wanted to live up here once in my life and when I would think about working up here, this is exactly what I envisioned. I see the New York Stock Exchange and it’s like WOW! This is the heartbeat of the world right here! Here are some pictures I took during lunch last week. There are two Falafel carts that compete with each other and one of them was even voted as the best cart vendor in NYC! I tried it once for lunch and it was pretty good...until I got a tummy ache. Another one of the carts is the bubble tea cart which I love! Here are some pics of the Financial District.

UNF student--hmmm...I was definitely doing lots of socializing with sorority sisters. Spent too much time confusing my college ex-boyfriend (sure we're together, but I need my freedom-huh?). Poor guy! Horrible me! - sorry!

I was definitely getting to know myself better! I was coming out of a quarter-life crisis and really trying to figure out who I was, who I wanted to be and who I am. Theresa and I started to spend a LOT of time together. We were so carefree and loving every minute of it. I moved into my very first apartment in Midtown with no roommates! My nephew was almost a year old and I was loving on him as much as possible! I really feel like this was a great time in my life. I felt like I was growing up but still young enough to be okay with making a few mistakes here and there.

5 months ago:
I was freezing my buns off! It was Winter here!! I was also helping Kristi with her wedding because it was right around the corner. Oh and I definitely was thinking more and more about moving on to a different company...and spending time trying to convince Jim to let me get a puppy! Which he did!! :)

5 things on my to do list today:
1) clean the apartment!!
2) scratch that. go out to dinner with Hubby & enjoy this awesome weather we're having.
3) take Sasha on a walk to the pet store - we must get new treats bc I don't like the ones we have.
4) charge my iPod
5) sleep

5 Snacks I enjoy:
1) Newman's Own caramel cups
2) chips - any kind really
3) lebanon bologna w/cream cheese - but we can't find lebanon bologna up here!!!
4) watermelon
5) kettle corn popcorn w/pellegrino water - YUM!

5 things I would do if I were suddenly a billionaire:
1) TRAVEL, Travel, travel!!!!!! (w/family & friends of course!!)
2) donate a significant amount to the American Cancer Society on behalf of my Sissy.
3) Invest
4) Have a golf course named after my Hubby (ha!)
5) Hire an on call personal assistant, cook, personal stylist, etc. etc. etc.

1) slouching - working on my posture via my pilates trainer though!
2) letting those cursewords slip sometimes - whoops!
3) Assuming.
4) Calling people from other sides of the house/apartment/store - horrible!
5) Extreme dieting.
