Obsessed!

Just a quick post on a couple of my obsessions lately...

First up - Lily the black bear. My nephew spent the weekend with us a couple of weekends ago and he immediately asked me to log onto bear.org. He then explained that there's a webcam in Lily the black bear's den and that she's going to have a cub very soon. I could hardly believe my eyes when the site came up. It's so cool! We've been keeping up with Lily's progress and she did have a cub a week ago - so adorable! Oh and just fyi, Lily is not in the zoo, she's in her natural habitat, in the woods of Minnesota. Like I said, it's pretty cool watching her, especially when she's not asleep. I love that my nephew told me all about her! He's doing great, by the way and is getting taller by the minute. He's now also involved in cub scouts, so it's adorable to see him earn his badges. He was tested again for the Gifted and Talented program at school and passed with flying colors. If you can believe it, he's in 1st grade and is reading at a 4th grade level! Amazing! He will remain in GT and goes through that curriculum. We're all very proud of him and I know my Sissy is too!

My next obsession is - Dear John. OMG. I'M OBSESSED! I am! My friend, Yvette, was so sweet to ask me to accompany her to an early screening of the movie. I was so excited to have gotten a chance to see it two weeks before it came out! If you know me, you know I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and have read every one of his books. I read Dear John on the way home from Puerto Rico with J in early 2008. J always falls asleep before the plane takes off and leaves me to entertain myself...which is a must since I'm a nervous flier. Anyway, during the trip home, he finally wakes up and sees me crying. He turns to me and says, "what's wrong with you?" Gee, thanks for the buzzkill Mr. Romance! lol. I cried throughout the book and although the ending wasn't exactly what I wanted it to be, it was still pretty good. So, now comes the movie. All things point to obsession with this movie because not only do I love the book, the author and the location (South Carolina!), but helloooooo! John is played by Channing Tatum. Oh. Emm. Gee. Mmm. mmm. mmm. Love me some Channing, even from his Step Up days. Anyway, the movie was awesome - just like I pictured it when I read the book and the best part? The ending of the movie was even better than the book! That made me love the movie even more. Although the book portrays John Tyree as even more of a badass, with tattoos and motorcycles, the movie version of him was just fine. Fine, fine, fine! Savannah played by Amanda Seyfried did great as well and I thought she played the part perfectly. Back to Channing...haha, he is h-o-t, hot and is definitely manly in the movie. I'm going to see it again on Friday when it comes out. This movie is right up there with the Notebook, in my opinion. Like I said - obsessed, much?

Anyway, that's all for now. Hope y'all get to take a peek at Lily the black bear and get to go see Dear John! xoxo!

TGIF!

I'm sooo very glad that today is Friday!! Woo hoo! It is definitely Fall outside and gorgeous might I add. Tomorrow is mine and Jim's 11 month wedding anniversary. Can you believe it has already been 11 months since we got married?! This time last year, I was in full wedding mode. Wait - was there ever a time when I wasn't? (haha)

This time of the year always seems so busy for us. Well, at least it has been the last few years or so. Jim leaves for Hilton Head, SC next week to play in a Father/Son Golf Tournament with his Dad and I leave (I hope!) to Houston for Theresa's bachelorette party. I really hope everyone gets power up and running soon. Two weeks after that, we fly back to Houston for Theresa's wedding. A week after that is our 1 year wedding anniversary. And exactly 5 days after that, we leave for our cruise! Three weeks after we return from our cruise is Thanksgiving and we are staying put. Last year we were both sick with the flu. So I hope this year we will feel better (kow). And of course one month later we fly to Florida for Christmas. PHEW!!! We've got a lot going on - all great things so we are very thankful.

Just for fun, I dug up these two pictures. :)

This first picture is a picture I took of our refrigerator last year. I can't remember exactly why this was all we had in the fridge - I mean, we do eat at home...sometimes. It's just that Mr. Picky aka my husband, is just that. Here are a few other reasons excuses as to why we don't eat at home that much:

-NYC apartment refrigerators aren't that big!
-Our kitchen is in a corner (so small) which makes it hard to cook
-It's difficult to cook for just one person because we all know that unless I'm making chicken parm that Hubby will not eat it! lol.

Now, I'm not complaining at all - promise. Just trying to make myself feel better and not so embarrassed that all that was in our fridge (at one point in time) was Crystal Light, Mountain Dew and Water. :-/

Speaking of the fridge...we still have our Save the Date magnet that I made on it. It makes me laugh when I see it because of all that went into making it! This was probably our 7th take in the photo booth - lol - I'm sure you can imagine Hubby's delight when I told him that the picture wasn't exactly how I wanted it to turn out yet (lol). We did have a blast taking them and will always look back and laugh at all that went into making them! :)

Anywho - hope y'all have a great Friday!!...and weekend too!!!!

You're the Ike to My Tina

but let's hope you're not!! Here's wishing my Family and Friends in Houston a very very safe weekend from Hurricane Ike. I will pray that y'all stay very safe!!!

My Mom is coming to visit me and Jim this weekend - yayyy!! She is running the Race for the Cure with me on Sunday and Jim's Aunt Cindy will also be in town so we all are meeting for brunch after the race. How fun!!

Maybe it's time I stop saying "MY" Mom and "Jim's" Aunt...because really, we're all one family now! Just saying.

And for one last random thought - the TiVo is getting so much use lately. What a great invention. I mean, really.

My fave shows that must be TiVo'd: the Hills, Gossip Girl, Dog Whisperer, the Office, How I Met Your Mother, Making the Band and the new 90210.

Hubby's fave shows that he TiVo'd: GOLF, Golf, and more golf...and The Shield. LOL.

I stopped by to see my friends at the previous gig this morning before I headed into work. It was soooo great to see y'all!!! I miss y'all so much and can't wait til next Friday! :)

Stay dry, happy and most of all safe this weekend, Y'all!!

Much love!!

Long Time No Blog

Well hello!!! So...it's been a while!! Sorry I haven't posted much lately...

things have been kinda hectic!! Lots of things have happened since I wrote last. First things first - the j.o.b. Do I love it? ABSOLUTELY!! It is so refreshing going to work knowing that you love what you're doing. A few of the girls I work with design clothes for clients and y'all know I can barely sew a button back on if it's fallen off! I am so business minded and it's so different to be around people who truly love design. It truly wows me!

Sasha is doing great!! She's getting to be such a big girl now! I took her to her first outing in Central Park and we had an absolute blast! She walks so nice on a leash (phew!), stops and sits when I stop and goes and when I say 'let's go.' I'm so glad for this because I really thought I would have to teach her how to 'heel.' I introduced her to other dogs at the dog run at central park and she wanted nothing to do with them! LOL. All she did was follow me around! It is so funny to see her personality - it was completely different than what I had expected. I thought she'd be chasing the pigeons or running after other dogs and she did the complete opposite. She just looks up at me and sits right next to me as if to say, well if you're not gonna play with those pigeons neither am I. Ha ha! She is just too cute!!

I love the park!

I'm such a good doggy! Look! No leash!

Sasha getting dirty at the dog run in Central Park!

While Sasha and I were walking around, I managed to snap a few pictures with my new camera. I took Court's advice and started reading the manual so I can learn what I'm doing. It's totally pointless having a great camera if you don't know how to use it, so I'm learning. Below are the pics I took from our outing.

Y'all know I love my historical societies! ha ha

Here are some pictures I took from Central Park:

Springtime in NYC is the absolute BEST!!

Don't you just love this statue? It's the statue of Romeo and Juliet in Central Park.

The Great Lawn in Central Park

People enjoying the beautiful weather (finally!)

Cherry Blossoms are so beautiful! They remind me of our wedding invitations!

Hubby is leaving work early today and we're all going to Madison Square Park...I am so excited!! More pics to come after tonight's outing!

Without getting into too many details, Hubby worked 36 hours straight (on no sleep) last week and this was just a part of the week! I felt so bad that he was so stressed - my heart really ached for him. I was able to have dinner with him at work on Saturday, which was nice and we all sat around and chit chatted. It was hard not seeing him as much. Living up here, we really only have each other and it was difficult not spending time with him. We've made friends (of course), but at the end of the day, it's each other we come home to. When people ask me how things have changed since we've been married, I tell them that not much has changed as far as routines or what have you, but the emotions have changed. Being married puts us on a whole new level...especially emotionally. When we kiss each other gooodbye, it means so much more. As cheesy as it sounds, it's as if you're not complete until you're together again. Of course, being the guy's guy that J is, he would never come out with this, but I know he feels the same way! Lol!! Things are finally better (as of Monday) and we now have a sense of normalcy again. We had a date night last night and this is part of the reason why I'm so excited to go to Madison Square Park tonight.

Speaking of being happily married - Isn't this the best picture ever?!

I snapped this picture of this couple in Central Park truly enjoying one another. I even started to tear up when I took it. She was reading to her hubby and you can tell that they are still so in love! This is one of the most romantic things I've ever seen.

As an added bonus - I received a flower delivery today from Hubby's boss!! He sent them to me to thank me for being so patient while Jim spent way too many hours at work. What a sweet gesture! I'm so very proud of my Hubby for his work ethic and accomplishments!! MUAH love!

Since yesterday was Tuesday, I'll post my Twelve For Tuesday right now:

Here are 12 random thoughts!

1. My nephew's first tooth fell out and the tooth fairy gave him $5! He asked me to buy him a High School Musical clock and when I told him he should use the money he has saved up to buy it, he replied with: "Well you have more money than me, you should buy it." LOL.

2. Becca and Paul's wedding was awesome!! Becca looked so beautiful! At one point, I looked around and everyone had tears in their eyes.

3. Court is preggers!!! I got her the cutest little onesie - it's the I <3 NY onesie as a little congrats present. I can't wait to meet her little one! She's feeling well and her photography business is blooming faster than flowers in the Spring. If you haven't seen her pics lately - check them out. She's doing a great job and I am so proud of her! (You can find the link to her site in my blog roll).

4. Theresa's wedding plans are coming along. I'm getting more and more excited for her big day!

5. HGTV has really put out some great programs!! I am absolutely obsessed with House Hunters and What You Get For Your Money.

6. I am also obsessed with the show Challenge on the Food Network. Have you seen the wedding cake challenge episode? It was soooo cool!

7. We are housebreaking Sasha and so far, so good (kow)!! We had her down to one wee wee pad in the house and she was so good about it, but now that she's had all her shots, we had to take it away and start training her to go outside. That's another thing that was different about having a dog in NYC as compared to any other city - the Vet would not let us take her outside until she's had all her shots. It's no secret that dogs use the potty on the curb and they have to be trained to 'curb.' She's doing great though and we're so proud of her!

8. I'm reading a great book titled Skinny Bitch. It's a tad vulgar, but it has a no-nonsense style that's not too bad - plus it's given me the push to get back on my health kick.

9. Have you ever seen the movie The Painted Veil? I watched it the other day and I loved it, but then I found out it was a book before and so now I'm annoyed I didn't read the book first!

10. We got a Tivo the other day and boy do we use it! I can now watch Oprah and Gossip Girl with a touch of a button. Ha Ha.

11. Where should we go for our 1 year anniversary? We're back and forth on some ideas but we don't know where to go! Any ideas?

12. Today's Temperature: Sunny/Hi 74 Degrees. Enough Said.

Welcome!

First...there was the wedding website. Then...there was the wedding blog. Up came...the online wedding map. Well...the wedding came.........and it went. Sure, you're thinking...how does she find the time? It was only a matter of time until P.E.S. - Post Event Syndrome - came creeping up on Wifey, so she had to come up with something...anything. You thought you were in the clear, did ya? No more sites to browse when you're bored at work. No more sites to visit your favorite New-York-City-By-Way-Of-Texas couple. Well, you thought wrong!
;-) Welcome to...

the de Leon blog! The wedding website was such a great success that we decided to keep it going by creating this blog. This is a great way to keep in touch with our family and friends...and a great way to laugh with us as we travel along this new road called Marriage.

So...that being said...feel free to read, comment...or read and laugh at other people's comments!

Happy reading y'all...we miss you!
