yet Another Reason Why I Love Living In NYC
Another reason why I love living in NYC? SAMPLE SALES!!! Kaitlin and I met up for dinner last night at Cafeteria and as we were catching up, we started talking about sample sales. Kait and I were notorious for going to sample sales over the Summer. I felt like every week we were at one. Our favorite thus far? The Tory Burch sample sale - for sure! Everyone knows my frustrations of busting out my flip flops too early: Spring in NYC = late Winter, not early Summer. With this in mind, I and like almost every NY gal, flocked to Bloomingdales for flats. My favorite pair?...well, all three Tory Burch ones I have are my fave! I have the Quinn patent leather in black, the gold snakeskin and the Quinn patent leather in silver. During the summer, Kait and I stood in line at the sample sale and she scored the cutest orange pair! And so our love of sample sales was confirmed. So anyway, last night, we were talking about sample sales and she started telling me about an email one she's on and I said I'm on a great email one too and it's very exclusive: exclusive = need invite. She asked if it was Gilt Groupe and I said, YES!! GG has the best sample sales ever! Another great site that I love is Daily Candy New York. Check out their sample sales for today!
You know, Jim's Uncle told us that once you're a NYer, you will always be a NYer - it never leaves you. I completely understand that now. There are things about being a NYer that nobody else will ever understand unless they are one too. I know that one day we may no longer be living here. Running around at lunch, dodging people and cabs just get to the hottest sample sale with a great friend will be a memory we laugh and talk about...good times, good times!

Mom's Visit to NYC
Mom came to visit and it was such a great weekend! We had a very Mother-Daughter weekend and it was an absolute blast. She arrived late Friday night and after taking the tour of our apartment (with a few laughs on how small it is), said that even though it's small, it's super cute! She also got to meet Sasha. :)
Saturday we went and got Dim Sum at Jing Fong in Chinatown. YUMMY!! It was typical dim sum, but with more choices. There really is nothing like having dim sum in NYC.
After we had brunch, we walked around Chinatown and then headed to Times Square to see Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein the musical. This was a last minute decision and we decided to see if we could get tickets late the night before. After doing some digging, I was able to find orchestra seats at half the price and we were very close to the stage (about 7 rows back)!! We couldn't believe how close we were when we got there! The show was great - it is hilarious and the sets were amazing.
After the show we decided to see if we could get a table at Serendipity (no such luck), but instead headed to Bloomingdales to do some shopping. I also dragged Mom to H&M and she loved it! LOL. After a long day of running around the city, we met up with Jim to have dinner at Pete's Downtown which is under the Brooklyn Bridge. The food was great and my Mom loved the view. We were exhausted at this point and headed home to rest up.
Sunday was the Race for the Cure. This was my 6th time running this and I was excited that my Mom was here with me. She did a really great job of running and walking - I'm so proud of her!! I always get very emotional when I run these things. I just know my Sissy is smiling at me. My Mom and I wore In Memory signs to honor my Sissy. Even though she didn't die from breast cancer, we felt it was right to honor her regarldess. It's always been my hope that maybe if we can find a cure for one type of cancer that it may help in finding a cure for all.
After the Race, we met up with Aunt Cindy (& co) to have brunch at the Central Park Boathouse. It was fairly warm that day, but it was still a great day.
The funniest part of the whole weekend happened in the car when Jim wanted to really take Mom to Friendlys. He had been talking about it and he just wanted to take her there (for some odd reason). Turns out, the Friendlys we were trying to go to wasn't even there! LOL. We all had such a great time laughing in the car.
Anyway, that's our weekend! I can't wait until Mom comes to visit again! :)

Best of the Worst
Best feeling: leaping with one step from the platform to the subway and just as the very last inch of you is on the subway, the door closes. Immediately you scream a loud PHEW(!) in your mind. And just as you grin from ear to ear knowing that ha! once again you won...the worst thing happens - see below.

I got 'Carrie'd away!!
So we all know that the Sex and the City movie premiered over the weekend. And I'm sure it's not surprising that I saw it opening weekend! Jen and I went to see the movie together and it was awe-some!! I really loved it! Boo to the critics who gave the movie a thumbs down - obviously they're not SATC fans. The movie was great...it seemed like a long episode and I didn't want it to end. Every question is definitly answered. If you haven't seen it yet - get there soon!
Living in NYC is so wonderful when it's warm! I'm sure there's many new yorker wannabes wanting to try their hand at living in the big city...especially after watching the SATC movie. It's cool to know that we live here and this is our backyard! Now...in the Winter it's a whole other story, isn't it? Ha ha.
Sasha and I went to Central Park today and let me just tell you how much she loves the park! We played fetch for quite a while and she even had tourists taking pictures of her! LOL. We enjoyed our day together and she is tuckered out. She will be getting spayed tomorrow, so I wanted to make sure we had some playtime before the big snip. You can see from the pics below that she got her summer haircut. She looks like a baby lamb doesn't she?!? She's soooo cute! (Don't tell her, but we're growing the hair back out...we like it when she looks like a mop!).
That's it for now...hope all is well!
