Here, There, Everywhere

No joke - right now is the absolute busiest I have ever been. Ever. If you could see into my mind, you'd find a million thoughts running at a million miles an hour. We've gotten quite a few phone calls from family and friends asking questions...so, I thought I'd just make this blog a question/answer session:
  • Are you really moving soon? Yup! It's for real, for real. We are moving in 18 days. Believe me, it's a LOT to take in. This weekend will be our last full weekend in NYC as New Yorkers . We are going to try and enjoy it as much as we can. As sad as we are though, the excitement of moving back home always creeps up to cancel that emotion out. We knew we wouldn't live here forever and what other city would we want to be at than Houston? J's company is sending us to Houston for our house hunting trip in two weeks - we have to find a house, buy a house, come back to NYC, meet the movers to pack our stuff and then fly out. It's exhausting just thinking about it, I know!

  • Where are you looking to live? We narrowed it down to either inside the loop or Kingwood. Inside the loop is always great of course, but I feel like I'm ready for something quiet and relaxed. We've already done the city thing...but, hey you never know...whatever feels right! Oh and YES folks, my husband is already in the process of joining Kingwood Country Club. In fact, he may have already faxed the paper work by the time I finish this blog. Mind you, we haven't moved yet nor have we found a house yet...heck, he hasn't even cancelled his NY Sports Club gym membership yet for that matter! You can tell where his priorities are in this move! ;) Oh and even if we don't live in Kingwood, J is still determined to join. After looking the information over, it makes sense. We are spending $200/month for our gym membership up here and that's just for a gym. In TX we can get all the country club amenities and as much as Jim will be playing golf...well, I'm pretty sure we'll be getting our money's worth. Shoot...I may start playing more too!
  • Are you going to look for a new job? Ugh. Can I seriously save this question for another blog entry? No? Okay, fine. Here's the thing. I love working. I have worked my tiny butt off up here. I have spent many hours working through the grind. I've sacrificed personal time, I've been belittled and yelled at. I've cursed more than even a sailor could handle and shed many tears...all to get the job done. New Yorkers are ruthless, and I mean ruthless, in the work force. Their expectations are so high - and while that may seem ridiculous at first, after awhile, you start to see people around you not just meeting those expectations, but exceeding them and it becomes a challenge to do the same thing. Their work ethic has always amazed me and now it is embedded within me. Taking the job I have now, I felt a sense of accomplishment. All that hard work really paid off. And now to leave it behind...does it bruise my ego a bit? Well naturally, yeah of course it does! Will I always look back and compare working on Wall Street? I really don't want to, but I can't say that I won't. J is really encouraging me to not work. He wants me to take a break. Take it easy. Enjoy the Club amenities. And of course all this sounds great and he's so amazing for this...but...well...I don't know. I guess I'm just one of those people that has a hard time not working. But then again, I could use the break and to spend time with my Nephew would be amazing. We shall see how long this 'break' lasts. So the answer to this question is: No. I will not be working right away...that is, unless some amazing opportunity presents itself.

  • How are you feeling? I'm feeling physically better and better each day. We had a little set back this week after my follow up appointment. I was given a shot (in the keester none the less) and one of the side effects is abdominal cramping. And boy they were not joking about that side effect. I was doubled over in pain and was walking around like Quasimoto. I'm feeling much better now and one of my stitches is gone. The other two are almost there and guess what? There's no scars! I don't really care too much about the scars for the cosmetic part, but it was for the emotional part. I didn't want to see them as a daily reminder of what happened. Believe me, I don't need any more daily reminders...I have enough to remember. Emotionally, I have my moments. The stresses of moving and everything else in between (from leaving my job to finding a house to the whole moving part) has me going insane and when I have one of my emotional moments, it comes on ten fold. But, overall I am feeling much better. We move forward, but we will never forget.

So even though things are crazy busy right now, we are excited for this new chapter in our lives. We can't thank everyone enough for their kind words, support, prayers and love. Y'all are amazing people and we would not be complete without you!
