We are home from a GREAT week in South Carolina! Christmas was awesome and our little side trip to Charleston was fantabulous! I really just cannot say how much we love going to SC. Time seems to stand still and everyone is so friendly. If you recall, J's parents bought a new house in Belfair Plantation two years ago and finally made it their permanent residence about a year and a half ago. I love Belfair because it's so calm, relaxing and gorgeous! The oak trees are beautiful! J loves Belfair because of the golf courses and he is so in love with the practice area (as he should be since his short game isn't so hot right now, haha!). We both love Belfair because of J's parents and it's so much fun to be around them. I swear everywhere we go, his parents know someone. We jokingly call J's dad 'the mayor.' As sad as we were that they sold their house in the Woodlands (here in Houston), we are very happy for them that they chose to live in Belfair. They are very happy there and that in and of itself makes us happy!
And what about Charleston? Oh mah gaw, we had a blast! Charleston is definitely one of my favorite cities and I have to say, I love it much more than Savannah, Georgia. I've been to Charleston once before, years ago, and it wasn't close to being as great as it was this time around. This was just the getaway that J and I needed! We were walking down King Street and J had his arm around me and I had mine around him and I told him how "I just love walking down cobblestone streets arm in arm. It's like we're back in New York." J's reply? "Umm, we didn't walk down cobblestone streets in New York and the one we're on now isn't either." Thanks for the buzzkill, J! Can't I just pretend to be Allie Calhoun for one second? lol. Anywho, J and I are also obsessed with the South Carolina logo. We own more things (shirts, hats, belts, cups, you name it!) with that logo and we don't even live there! Hands down, it's the best state logo, with the Texas star coming in second.
We are still pretty exhausted and poor J caught his dad's cold. :( We drove straight through on our way to South Carolina and drove straight through on our way back to Houston. 16 hours there, 15 hours back. Talk about exhausting! Going there wasn't as bad as coming home, but we are thankful that we arrived safe and sound. (knock on wood!) We both actually slept for 12 hours last night and have been lounging all day today. I'm going to try to post the pics soon, but in the meantime...gonna get some more sleep.
One last thought before I go:
2010 is almost here!! YAY! I am sooooo very happy for the new year! Adios, good riddance, arrivederci, sayonara 2009!
